Applications are now open for UniQuest’s annual research commercialisation ‘boot camp’.
Academics and postgraduate students from UniQuest’s partner research institutions can now apply for a place at UniQuest’s annual research commercialisation workshop – two days devoted to helping researchers discover how to protect intellectual property, commercialise their expertise, and leverage commercial research funding for publication opportunities.
“This workshop is about helping university researchers understand commercialisation and industry engagement concepts so they can think about how their ideas and skills could be translated into consumer benefits via a commercialisation pathway,” said UniQuest Acting CEO, Dean Moss.
“The program focuses on topics that academics and research students from all disciplines should consider as part of their university experience and career progression, whether or not they have a project they’re working on right now that could become a marketable product,” Dr Moss said.
The workshop capitalises on UniQuest’s industry and professional links, affording opportunities for researchers to network with representatives from the commercialisation, innovation and investment sectors, meet peers from other research centres, and gain credit towards a Graduate Certificate in Research Commercialisation.
Over the past decade more than 1,800 researchers have attended this free workshop, to gain information and insight about intellectual asset management, from presentations, creative group work, and pitching sessions involving experienced commercialisation professionals.
This year’s workshop will be held at the Mercure Resort Gold Coast on Thursday-Friday 11 – 12 April. Workshop costs are covered by UniQuest (and partner institutions), including transport and accommodation (conditions apply).
Applications for the workshops will be accepted online until 15 March:www.uniquest.com.au/commercialisationworkshop.
