Accurate and scalable mapping of agricultural paddocks has long been a challenge in spatial analysis. Traditional methods rely heavily on manual digitisation or coarse land-use datasets, which are often outdated, inconsistent, or unable to reflect real-world cropping dynamics.

The technology provides the following value to its users:

The Productive Paddock Boundary (PPB) system is a novel spatial mapping tool that delineates actively cropped paddocks using multi-season Sentinel-2 satellite imagery and advanced AI segmentation. Built on Meta’s Segment Anything Model 2 (SAM2), PPB identifies true field boundaries by analysing vegetation patterns across multiple years (2019–2025), filtering out non-productive inclusions like shelterbelts and access roads. The system also integrates seasonal cropping attributes—such as start-of-season (SOS), end-of-season (EOS), peak NDVI, and fallow NDVI—into each paddock polygon, enabling a rich, temporally responsive dataset. The final output is a paddocklevel map that is spatially accurate, easy to interpret, and ready for integration into farm management platforms or analytics dashboards.
